Trustee Recruitment

The LIMUN Foundation is looking to recruit additional Trustees to join the existing Board of Trustees. This is a voluntary position and we are looking for someone whose background and skills will complement those of the existing Board.

Who We Are

We are a charity that promotes cultural empathy, understanding of international affairs and awareness of the United Nations among young people. We primarily do this through two programmes:

  1. The London International Model United Nations conference (“LIMUN”), our flagship annual conference in London which is also the largest university-level Model United Nations in Europe, and

  2. LIMUN: High School (“LIMUN: HS”), an annual secondary school conference which focuses on providing access to Model UN for those students who attend state/state-funded schools or are from under-represented communities.

The charity also runs and implements outreach programmes which complement its work on the two conferences on an ad-hoc basis.

We are registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (No 1159324).

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for Trustees who will demonstrate how they will further the LIMUN Foundation’s aims and objectives, an understanding of charity governance, and be able to adopt a long-term view in ensuring the charity’s long-term sustainability.

We are specifically interested in candidates who have the following backgrounds and skills who will be able to complement the existing composition of the Board of Trustees:

  • Education (particularly within the UK education system)

  • Legal

  • Public Sector

However, we are open to application from people from a wide array of backgrounds and different levels of engagement with (or without) Model United Nations.

What the Role Entails

The role involves the general oversight of the conference secretariats, which comprise of student volunteers attending various London universities. This includes providing advice on general activities and guiding the secretariat through financial and operational considerations both for the conference which they are responsible for and in the context of the LIMUN Foundation’s long-term goals and objectives. The role also involves long-term planning and strategy coordination for the future of the Foundation. We roughly project a 5-hour commitment per week.

As a Trustee, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the growth of a young and dynamic charity, while also shaping a curative and organisational learning experience for the student volunteers we work with.
